New Client information
Please ensure you have read our terms and conditions and are clear on our operating hours
All dogs are required to undergo a trial if they haven't stayed with us previously or within the past 12 months.
Trials are an important part of integrating your dog into our facility and ensuring that they are coping well with their visit prior to you leaving them with us when you go away. The welfare of all of the animals in our care is very important to us and one dog who isn't coping well will upset others. It is our job to ensure that all animals are happy and are subject to absolute minimum stress levels whilst attending our facility.
Trial visits require your dog to be dropped off in the morning and collected the following morning however we do insist that this is organised at a time when you will be available in case we do need to contact you to collect your dog earlier.
They are typically organised Monday - Thursday as we are quieter during the week which enables us to spend more time settling them and completing our assessments.
What is the purpose of a trial visit?
-
Assess behaviour in this environment, ensuring they are able to display calm behaviour when they are on their rest breaks and that they are not overly anxious or over excited/over stimulated with being at the kennels. It is unhealthy for dogs to be showing signs of the above when in a kennel environment so it is important for us to ensure they can relax here.
-
Ensure we can perform a full health check as we need to be able to do these often when they are staying for a longer visit. Checking mouth, eyes, ears, paws etc.
-
Assess interactions with other dogs, if we are able.
-
Assess level of obedience; For example will they come when called, have basic obedience behaviour such as sit, bed, and walk relatively well on leash.
We please ask you to be honest about your pets behavior/needs when booking. Dogs who are anxious may require additional trials prior to their larger booking to ensure they have enough time to settle in.
We will NOT ACCEPT dogs with no obedience or basic manners. Having dogs jumping all over staff, knocking us over or displaying, boisterous, dangerous behavior becomes a huge safety concern for staff and other pets.
We are limited by council to ensure we keep noise pollution at a minimum. Dogs that are excessive barkers will not pass a trial visit. Excessive barking is not healthy for any dog in a kennel environment and if your dog is showing this behaviour chances are high that they really aren't coping well and therefore our recommendation will be for you to engage with a house sitter or trainer to work alongside us to help your dog and enable them to re trial at a later date.
We have strict open hours due to our consent to operate.
Because it has happened previously we do also have to mention that we do not accept nor condone clients
-
Accessing our property outside of our business hours whether or not the gate is open outside of these hours. We run a farm and may have contractors coming and going meaning the gate may be required to be open at certain times.
-
Jumping the gate or any boundary fencing.
-
Entering the kennel/cattery premises and/or any other building on our property.
-
Breaking into our facility outside of hours to remove your pets.
-
Knocking on our front door demanding pets release outside of hours.
-
We cannot transport pets off the property to meet you outside of hours either as we have a small family to look after and other pets in our care. Do not ask, demand or expect this of us.
All of the above will result in being banned from the premises and a trespass order applied. Our property is under video surveillance for the safety of the pets in our care.
It is free for pets to stay overnight to the following morning if you do not believe you will make an afternoon collection.
Please let us know via email if your travel plans ever change and you require to collect your pets earlier or later than previously planned. We ask this as we like to be organised and potentially may want to bathe your pet, wash their bedding and prepare their belongings. We also need to ensure we have the correct number of staff on for the period of our open hours if pets are due to go home or arrive.
We are a small family owned business and LOVE what we do however we also require our family time in between working with the animals and staff also require their breaks. We ask that clients respect our family, staff, home and business by abiding by our open hours.
Upon arrival to collect or drop off your pets you must keep them in the vehicle and remain at your vehicle yourself until a staff member is ready to see you. We will be out as soon as possible. The main office building is not to be entered unless indicated by staff.
Please understand that we endeavor to keep an extremely controlled environment and our schedule with the dogs is very structured. Our facility operates differently to what most clients would be used to and we operate this way because we have a deep understanding of canine/feline behaviour and know what is best for the pets in our care.
This also means we often have dogs staying with us that do have behavioral issues and do require certain management in line with their existing training plans. The rules we have in place at this property are for your protection as well as the safety of every animal and person on the property.
You are liable for any damage you cause to our property whilst you are here.
It is important to us that everyone understands and is fully aware of the information above as it is often reported that people aren't aware despite our best efforts.
Thank you for reading the above information, we recognise that it may seem excessive but unfortunately it has come to the point where we have to explain each detail to ensure clients do actually understand.
If you have any questions or concerns please let us know
